Workshop Details
Saturday, March 4th
Led Full Primary Class Saturday, March 4th, 9:30am – 11:30am
This is a guided class in which the entire Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga is taught. (Beginning Series) Modifications will be taught for more challenging asanas.
Shoulder Opener Workshop Saturday, March 4th, 1:30pm – 3:00pm
This workshop will focus on alignment and opening of the shoulder joint, with emphasis on its relationship to the chest and rib cage. We will use props and specific postures to isolate and explore this all too often uncharted territory.
Backbend Workshop Saturday, March 4th, 3:15pm – 4:45pm
Students will investigate the structure and anatomy of backbends through both intellectual and visceral understanding. Emphasis will be placed on technical alignment through conscious awareness of breath.
Basic Pranayama and Sitting Practice (Meditation) Saturday, March 4th, 5:00pm – 5:45pm
Focus will be on building a foundation for a daily pranayama practice with simple breathing exercises for cleansing and activating the lungs. The first pranayama techniques from the Ashtanga System will be taught and practiced followed by sitting practice/meditation.
Sunday, March 5th
Arm Balance Workshop Sunday, March 5th, 9:30am – 11:30am
This will be a fun workshop for students of all levels to learn the foundational principals of arm balances. We will practice headstand, handstand and variations of these two poses in order to develop the strength and understanding required to practice safely. *It is NOT required that students already know how to do headstand or handstand to come to this workshop.Hip Opener Workshop Sunday, March 5th, 9:30am – 11:30am
